Ultrasound Scan to discover the baby's gender.
This scan can be carried out from 16 weeks to term
Early pregnancy dating scans are useful to check that your baby’s heartbeat is developing well, to confirm the number of fetuses and to accurately predict your baby’s due date. Your baby’s head, limbs, hands and feet can also been seen as well as some organs such as the stomach. Ultrasound dating scans are also useful to check the site of pregnancy, i.e. exclude ectopic pregnancies if you have experienced problems in previous pregnancies.
If booking a scan from 16 weeks, it may also be possible to determine the gender of the baby.
We will confirm the viability, well-being and growth of the pregnancy with the measurements obtained during this scan and provide a full report of our findings.
We always endeavour to obtain the sex of the baby on the first visit however there are occasions where this is not always possible due to fetal position, gestational age and technical limitations. If this does happen we will invite you back for a second visit, free of charge, at about a week later to attempt to confirm the fetal sex.
If we have given you an opinion about the gender of your baby, please note there is small risk that it is not always 100% accurate. This means that sometimes when we say we think your baby is a girl, it is found to be a boy when it is born and vice versa
Digital scan images can be sent to you via our Tricefy service. Tricefy is our secure image sharing tool which enables patients to access scanned images and moving clips anywhere and share them with friends and family instantly.
The price of fetal sexing before 24 weeks is £75.
After 24 weeks the charge is £90 (growth scan).
