Abdominal Ultrasound Scanning
You may need an abdominal ultrasound scan to identify potential problems with your liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen or kidneys. An abdominal scan can identify gall stones or polyps as well as assessing the liver and kidney function.
First View Imaging offers abdominal scans which enable the sonographer to view and evaluate many major organs. This includes the gallbladder, kidneys, pancreas, liver and spleen. An abdominal ultrasound scan is useful in identifying many conditions including blood clots, enlarged organs, fluid in the abdominal cavity, gallstones, diseases of the kidneys, abnormal liver function and tumours, as well as identifying causes of abdominal pain. The abdominal scan is carried out trans-abdominally and preparation requires fasting for 6 hours prior to when the scan takes place. Clear fluids are allowed, but no milk or fizzy drinks may be consumed.
