We now offer a service for predicting the chance of chromosomal abnormality - the Harmony Downs Screening Test. It is the most accurate, non invasive test available and can be carried out from 10 weeks and 4 days gestation. It uses an ultrasound scan to confirm the pregnancy as well as a blood sample taken from the mother which will be analysed for cell free fetal DNA. This is essentially a marker in the mother’s blood of the DNA of the baby. The Harmony Test is predictive to more than 99% accuracy in Down’s syndrome, 98% of Edward’s syndrome and 80% of Patau’s syndrome, thus greatly reducing the need for invasive testing by CVS or amniocentesis.
